She had a First and Fatal Heart attack at 45

What a Christmas this has been.

Received news that a friend and past client Lai Choo, had a first and fatal heart attack on Christmas morning and left behind her 7 year daughter and husband.

She was truly a dedicated staff and neglected her health at the expense of the almighty $. Would her daughter appreciate all her mom's hard work, now that she is gone forever?. I am sure not.

Even worse being the loss of a loved one on Christmas day, when everyone is celebrating the occasion.

Work if meaningful is important, but not at the expense of your health, your family, your friends and your religion.

So do check your blood pressure, cholesterol and sugar levels every year if you are below 40 and every 6 months if you are above 40 and lead a poor lifestyle.

Blood pressure should be normal, your HDL should be high and your sugar levels should be normal, even in your 40s, 50s and 60s.

Will eating oats really reduce your cholesterol?

Quaker Oats has been agressively advertising that eating oats will drop your cholesterol levels by 18% or more .

What they failed to mention in the advert is that, you have to eat 3 bowls of oats for breakfast, 5 bowls for lunch and 5 bowls for dinner - and only fresh fruits with each bowl - nothing else. - for the next 3 months. Does that sound like something you would want to delicious to you?.

Oat fibre is just one type of fibre that can absorb the bile acids. But in BiosLife, there are 5 different types of fibre that forms a fibre gel mattrix, which makes it 40 times more powerful than just eating oats.

That's why you can still enjoy all your normal 3 meals daily with your BiosLife and yet your bad LDL will drop 31% and your good HDL will increase by 29% within 8 weeks.

13 servings of oats daily will certainly cost cheaper than having your 3 regular meals together with 2 sachets of BiosLife, But life is all about eating your favourite food as you please. Not to eat oats morning, noon and night like a sick person!.

Choose Bioslife and take the 90 day challenge risk free.

Visit my eBay store to protect yourself, your golden goose and your loved ones, against strokes and heart attacks.

Heart warning added to diabetes drug Avandia

Nov14, 2007 CNN carried this story...read the full story by clicking the title link.

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The US FDA warned that a popular diabetes drug Avandia may, or may not, increase the risk of heart attacks.

Glaxo - the drug manufacturer agreed to FDA's demand for a major study directly comparing Avandia and its competitors' heart effects. The study will begin by next November and won't end until 2014, but the FDA will order interim checks to see how patients are faring and if it's possible to settle the issue any sooner. Can you take the risk and wait for the results?

In contrast, Health Canada announced that Avandia should be used only in combination with certain other drugs for hard-to-control blood sugar.

Dr. Steven Nissen of the Cleveland Clinic, who first brought the heart attack issue to public attention, said that he preferred Canada's approach -- but that Wednesday's warning is important and timely.

Last May, a 6 month study of 10,000 patients was published showing Avandia users had a 43% greater chance of getting a heart attack, than those not using this drug. Does this scare you?

About 1 million Americans with Type 2 diabetes use Avandia. It helps control blood sugar by increasing the body's sensitivity to insulin.

Bioslife can help those with high blood sugar, from starting on these life threatening drugs and also help current diabetics reduce their dependance on diabetes drugs within 3-12 months.

Bioslife key ingredients

Bios Life is an advanced fiber and nutrient drink mix that lowers cholesterol four ways, without the harmful side effects of statin drugs.

Bios Life 2 was originally formulated in 1989, by the well-respected and recognized Rexall Drug Company.

The newest formulation of Bios Life, called Bios Life Complete now delivers new active ingredients making it the most effective natural cholesterol lowering product on the market today.

Bios Life is also widely recognized, patented and clinically proven for its ability to help balance blood glucose levels, along with numerous other essential biological functions.

4 key mechanisams how Bioslife works naturally....

Biosphere Fiber – A patented blend of five highly soluble fibers including guar gum, pectin, gum arabic, locust bean gum & oat fibre combined with calcium carbonate, which quickly forms a fiber matrix in the digestive system that traps cholesterol and bile acids.

Phytosterols – Soy bean oil and sunflower oil extract which causes blocks dietary cholesterol from the food to be absorbed and safely passed out of the body.

Policosanol – Sugar Cane extract which naturally inhibits HMGCoA reductase—the key enzyme involved in cholesterol synthesis by the liver - without leaving any chemical residue.

Chrysanthemum morifolium – A water extract which activates an enzyme called 7-alpha hydroxylase, which takes cholesterol out of the system and converts it to bile acids.

Other Bioslife ingredients:-

Chromium polynicotinate – A proprietary form of chromium with high bioavailability that enhances the effectiveness of insulin and reduces blood glucose levels

Beta glucans – Fiber that controls the lipid and glucose response after a meal. Also stimulates white blood cells that are a key factor in the immune system

Niacinamide, Riboflavin, Biotin, Cyanocobalamin, Folic Acid, and Thiamin HCI – Provide a powerful vitamin B complex to breakdown nutrients into energy. Also B-vitamins decrease the homocysteine level which is an independent risk factor for CVD.

Ascorbic Acid, D-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate, and Beta Carotene – Powerful antioxidants that prevent lipid and LDL oxidation and strengthen the immune system

Sucralose and Maltodextrin - fast and slow metabolising carbohydrates for instant and long term energy.

Bioslife - the only patented and clinically proven health drink, to safely manage healthy cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar levels naturally.

If you don't feel 100% - what will you do?

If you don't have joint pains, headache, fever or a sore throat, it doesn't mean you are healthy.

I know of many people aged 40 and above who are not sick, yet don't feel healthy. But they just wait for something major to happen before they go for a checkup.

If the gauges on your 35 year old car, are showing a reading that is not normal, you don't have to wait till the red warning lights come on, before you take the car in for an inspection.

The same with your body. If you live in the city, then by age 35, you should be dropping in yearly to check your blood sugar, blood pressure and cholesterol levels. After all, this checkup will only cost you RM25 in Malaysia or S$18 in Singapore. It's affordable and gives you a status update of your current state of health.

I have subsidized Gribbles and Pathlab vouchers at just RM25 or just S$19 at the Raffles Medical Group, if you want to save some money going directly and paying much more for your tests.

Yes, prevention costs money, but it's small money compared to treating a major health challenge. So either way, you have to pay the price. Its cheaper and less stressful, if you do it today. So do you know your cholesterol numbers?.

Bioslife works even during the Muslim Fasting month

I just met Hadi this afternoon and he showed me his blood test results of 30thAug before starting the 90 day Bioslife Challenge and 1st Oct - the 30 day results. He also brought along his 5 times daily blood pressure test results for Aug, Sept and October.

I was at first unsure, as during the fasting month, some people actually eat more unhealthily and with the lack of water, the results would not be a true picture.

I was surprised when his Blood sugar, LDL, Triglycerides and Blood pressure, all showed a reduction.

Of course Hadi was happy with the results and ask me to recommend him some other products he should be taking on a daily basis, and some products for his wife who has a joint problem and his son who has a kidney problem.

I recommended him 5 different products that everyone should be taking on a daily basis

a) Salmon Omega 3 oil - essential fatty acids for the heart, skin, eyes, nerves and brain
b) BiosLife - fibre for healthy cholesterol, sugar and blood pressure levels
c) Calcium Magnesium complex - the most important mineral our body needs to make hormones and also for a strong skeletal system
d) Bio-C - time released 4 different forms of Vitamin C
e) Daily Produce24 - antioxidants from 24 fruits and vegetables for anti aging and anti-cancer

And for the wife,

a) LifAloe - 5 different forms of aloe vera to balance acidity levels
b) CM Plex creme - patented cream for arthritis.

And for his son,

a) Native Legend Tea - to cleanse and nourish the liver and kidneys.

He decided to invest in all of the products recommended today, and I was happy to help him and his family. with their health challenges and to stay healthy and pain free.

The latest spotlight on HDL and what you need to know

Several developments have emerged in the evolving world of cholesterol research. Here's what you need to know:

Spotlight on HDL & LDL

Produced by our bodies, and absorbed from the food we eat, cholesterol is a waxy, fat-like substance that's vital for our brain function, hormone production, cellular activity -- every aspect of life.

When it comes to heart health, cholesterol is a double-edged sword. Most of us know by now that there are two main cholesterol carriers with very different roles. Low-density lipoproteins (LDL) transport cholesterol to the body's tissues and arteries. At high levels, LDL leads to plaque buildup in the arteries; this can lead to a sudden blockage or narrowing in an artery that may slow or stop blood flow to the heart (hence LDL's reputation as "bad" cholesterol).

High-density lipoproteins (HDL), which carry cholesterol back to the liver to be removed from the body, protect against heart disease (and are thus called "good" cholesterol). "It's kind of the yin and the yang of atherosclerosis," says Superko. "Cholesterol is always being deposited in the artery and always being taken out."

Despite the fact that HDL's importance has been known for two decades, it's still upstaged by "bad" cholesterol. This isn't surprising, says Superko, since drugs to lower LDL are effective, and they bring in upwards of $30 billion to pharmaceutical companies each year -- creating a large incentive for further research and development, not to mention the ad campaigns.

Drugs for raising HDL, on the other hand, have largely proven unsuccessful; clinical trials of one such drug, torcetrapib, were halted last year because it increased the risk of death.

Whereas until now the majority of data has revolved around LDL, that's changing, says Dr. Elsa-Grace Giardina, a cardiologist and director of the Center for Women's Health at Columbia University. "Recently we've seen that there are populations who have low 'good' cholesterol, and if you raise the good cholesterol in that population, you can actually make them live longer." Every 1-mg increase in HDL appears to correlate with a 3 percent drop in risk of heart disease. Conversely, every 1-mg decrease in LDL, drops your heart disease risk by 2 percent.

The Bottom Line

Both LDL and HDL are critically important for heart health. Your LDL-to-HDL ratio should be about 3.5 to 1, ideally, with an HDL level above 60 mg.

And lifestyle is essential to both levels. Although dietary changes can help lower LDL, exercise and maintaining a healthy weight are key for raising HDL. In general, women tend to have higher HDL numbers than men, but postmenopausal women need to stay especially vigilant. "After menopause, good cholesterol decreases," says Giardina. If you smoke, you can raise your HDL significantly just by quitting.

Rather than another prescription, the best pill for boosting HDL may be a vitamin. "Niacin (vitamin B3) is the most effective treatment at raising HDL," says Dr. Stephen Devries, preventive cardiologist at the Center for Integrative Medicine at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Studies show that taking large doses (1 to 2 grams) of niacin daily can raise HDL by up to 30 percent. Because of potential side effects -- flushing, in which your skin turns red and you feel very warm, and liver problems -- it's essential to work closely with a doctor.

Global Warming - and hot enough to be served

Unusual heat, cold, rain, floods are just some of the disasters that has turned against as recently.

We can choose to ignore these signs and continue our journey of destruction or we can make a conscious effort to do our part. We should be concerned more about how the increased heat can

a) overwork our lungs due to more forest fires and greater pollution
b) cause heart attacks and strokes as heat, will harden the blood vessels.
c) give rise to greater incidences of malaria and dengue fever.
d) spread food and water borne diseases and allergens due to high levels of carbon dioxide and pollen

According to the Farmers’ Almanac, years ending with an “8″ are years with weather extremes and that 2008 will be the hottest year of the last 100 years.

And in South East Asian region, the threat of more earthquakes and uncontrollable forest fires, could haze up the region’s blue skies due to change in wind directions.

So is it about time to boost up your lung power and clean our your blood vessels?. It’s never to early to start, especially for those who have weak lungs and currently suffer from high blood pressure and high cholesterol.

Visit www.bioslife.com to learn how you can be help those around you to be prepared to face this global warming.

Why your doctor dismisses Adverse Drug Reactions

Patients’ concerns about drug side effects are often shrugged off by their doctors, according to a survey of 650 patients who were taking cholesterol-lowering drugs known as statins.

Statins, such as Lipitor and Zocor, are common drugs with widely known side effects that include liver damage, muscle problems, memory and mood changes, and more. In the case of muscle problems, if the side effect is not recognized it can progress to a potentially fatal condition called rhabdomyolysis.

Nonetheless, patients who responded to the survey said that they had to initiate a discussion about side effects with their doctor, and when they did:

47 percent said their doctors dismissed their muscle or cognitive problems, and said they were not statin-related
51 percent with a type of nerve pain called peripheral neuropathy said their doctors denied a connection to the drugs
32 percent said their doctors denied a connection between their symptoms and statins
29 percent said their doctors "neither endorsed nor dismissed the possibility of symptom link to statins"

Rather than attributing the patients complaints to the drugs, many doctors instead blamed the “normal aging process” or denied the symptoms entirely. Aside from not addressing the health concern in the patient, this ignorance toward a potential adverse drug reaction (ADR) means that no “adverse event report” is being given to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Side effects are already underreported by 90 to 99 percent, according to one Harvard Medical School expert, and the FDA relies heavily on such reports to gauge a drug’s safety once it hits the market.

In short, the survey suggests that the FDA is missing out on a wealth of ADRs because doctors are not recognizing them in patients.

The study’s authors believe that statin-related side effects are not the only one’s being missed.

They suggest that many other drug side effects are also being ignored. The researchers speculated that doctors’ tendencies to ignore drug side effects may be due to the powerful ad campaigns touting medications’ benefits and downplaying side effects.

A Heart attack is not a problem with the heart

Most people think they have a heart problem if they feel their heart beats faster or if they feel a sharp pain in their chest. Then they worry they have a weak heart or a heart attack.

But all these symptoms actually means you have a circulation problem. It's simply the case of your circulation pipes being clogged up after years of eating all the wrong food and never knowing how to clean up your pipes.

People are now aware that cleaning up their digestive pipes through cleansing and detoxing can improve their general health, energy levels and skin problems.

But till now, no one has talked about cleasing out your circulation pipes from the plaque buildup, caused by excessive trans fats and food high in the bad LDL cholesterol.

You could be eating correctly, and exercising regularly and be in the peak of health, just like the young soccer player who just had a heart attack and died during a game, but if you dont clean your pipes, you are at risk of getting a heart attack or even worse a stroke - that cuts your life in half.

Check out your pipe cleaner here and visit http://www.bioslife.com/ to learn about the ONLY safe, patented and clinically proven drink, to naturally clean our your circulation pipes.

Will eating Oats really reduce your cholesterol levels?

Yes studies have shown that if you have very high levels of LDL cholesterol, you can reduce it by 10%, by eating a large bowl of oats every morning.

I had some friends who tried it, for 1 month. What they lost was their breakfast friends and the will to carry on, when their cholesterol only dropped 1-2% - basically from substituting their favourite breakfast meal.

Imagine the stress and pain it caused them - foregoing their breakfast favourites like wantan mee, prawn mee, bak kut teh, nasi lemak, roti telur, tim sum, pau and loh mai kai - with oats, only to see such a small difference in their LDL levels.

My parents used to feed us with oats every morning. Today, I can't stand the smell or even sight of it - so you guessed it right - I don't feed my kids with oats.

When you drink Bioslife - a delicious orange drink 10 mins before your lunch and dinner, you can lower our LDL by 31% and raise our HDL by 29% - all in 8 weeks - guaranteed.

Take the 90 days Bioslife challenge today and enjoy the next 3 months living to eat.

Sex to Earthquakes - what causes Heart Attacks

I just read this somewhat light-hearted Harvard Heart letter, and wanted to share with you. Just getting out of bed in the morning may be the worst thing you can do, if you're trying to avoid a heart attack.

Anger really can trigger a heart attack. But then, so can getting sick, being too hot, being too cold, air pollution, lack of sleep, grief, overeating, natural disasters, exercise and sex.

In fact, simply waking up is the worst thing you can do if you're trying to avoid a heart attack.

Heart attacks, strokes and cardiac arrests seem to come out of the blue, but actually most occur upon rising in the morning, according to the July 2007 issue of the Harvard Heart Letter.

Before waking, our bodies release stress hormones into the bloodstream to give us the energy to get out of bed, but this also strains the heart slightly. That bump can cause a cardiac event if one's arteries already are rife with festering cholesterol-rich plaque.

The dehydration that normally occurs after a night of sleep also puts a plaque-plagued circulatory system at risk. Also, heart medications wear off during the night.

A bout of anger can increase the chances of having a heart attack up to 14-fold for two hours following a flare-up, the Letter states.

Strenuous exercise such as shoveling snow or running can be a trigger, but exertion is much less likely to cause trouble in people who exercise regularly. So stay in shape, the authors advise.

Infectious diseases such as pneumonia and the flu can also trigger heart attacks and strokes.

The fact is that most people sleep too little, rise and shine, make love, shovel snow, eat too much, overheat, argue and recover from the flu without getting a heart attack.

"Still, knowing what sets off heart attacks, strokes or cardiac arrests can help you avoid triggers or blunt their power," the Letter states.

So to prevent heart attacks, you can either decide not to get up every morning, or drink your Bioslife every day.

Do your blood test today and visit my eBay store to take the 90 days Bioslife Challenge.!

New Bioslife Clinical Study results

Bios Life™ Study Produces a Decreased Risk for Cardiovascular Disease in African Americans.

As a first line defense against heart disease, 85 members of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Roswell, Georgia participated in a three-month health project this spring to naturally optimize their cholesterol levels using Bios Life. The project was endorsed by Dr. William Cooper, Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services of Wellstar-Kennestone Hospital.

Each of the study participants added Bios Life to their diet, twice daily, for the 12-week duration of the health project. At the end of three months, participants that were at higher risk for cardiovascular disease (CVD) successfully lowered their LDL (bad cholesterol) levels by an average of 19% and triglyceride levels by an average of 41%.

Participants further reduced their risk for heart disease by increasing their HDL (good cholesterol) levels by an average of 32%. Using risk calculations obtained from the Framingham Heart Study, participants in this study effectively decreased their 10 year risk of CVD by 36%.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), African Americans living in the southern region of the U.S. are at greatest risk for heart disease, the leading cause of death in the country.

The foremost risk factors for cardiovascular disease are high LDL (bad cholesterol) and triglyceride levels. The latest insights in lipid management, however, indicate that low HDL (good cholesterol) may be even more important in predicting CVD risk. The CDC Division of Heart Disease and Stroke prevention recommends controlling cholesterol as the most effective way to decrease risk for heart disease.

Conventional intervention focuses on lipid lowering medication, such as statins. These drugs are effective in lowering LDL, but have limited success for increasing HDL. Moreover, they have been linked to side-effects, such as liver and muscle problems. For many people, these side effects are a reason to look for safe clinically proven natural alternatives.

Bios Life provides a natural, side effect-free option for individuals who are at risk for heart disease and who are unable or unwilling to use statin medications for cholesterol control.

Bios Life combines viscous soluble fiber, policosanol and phytosterols to safely optimize cholesterol by minimizing cholesterol absorption in the intestinal tract, regulating cholesterol created by the liver and enhancing enzymatic breakdown of cholesterol in the body.

For more information on Bios Life or effective methods to lower your cholesterol please visit www.bioslife.com, or email me for more links to the results of the many clinical studies done on Bioslife.

Have you got NCD?

Chances are you may as 7 out of 10 Malaysian adults suffer from a non-communicable disease (NCD)like Diabetes, Hypertension or Cancer.

That's 11.6 million out of 16 million adults nationwide. The bad news is that NCDs account for 51% of all deaths in Malaysia.

What can you do about it?. It's not easy to eat what you need to, or to exercise, or to reduce the alcohol, cigarettes and delicious fat in our diet.

We all know of close family or friends who had to suffer these NCDs. Will we suffer the same fate too?

So what options do you have today, to ensure you belong to the 30% who do not land up losing your limbs, being brankrupt from dialysis, getting a heart attack or stroke or suffering the chemoatherapy and radiation.

If there was a safe, patented and clinically proven product, that could manage healthy blood sugar / blood pressure levels and contains 3.5gm of soluble and insoluble fibre, that is proven to prevent cancer, would you have the discipline to drink this delicious orange drink twice a day?

Prevention is cheaper and less stressful than dialysis or suffering a heart attack, stroke or cancer. Unfortunately, most people are willing to gamble, that they will get it.

But the odds are bad - 7 out of 10 adults will get it. If not you, then your parents, spouse, siblings, family, friends and colleagues.

Dr Peter Vederghem answers to Bioslife FAQ

1. How serious can be a chromium reaction on diabetes?
Chromium is very beneficial for diabetes. It is an essential mineral that serves as a sensitizer of insulin. It is the job of insulin to produce sugar levels. But if it does so in the presence of chromium, it is going to do it more effectively. So, the question suggests, that people think chromium is bad in the case of diabetes, because they ask about a chromium reaction. However, it will not create a reaction, it is just very good for people with diabetes because it is going to bring your sugar levels down even further, on top of the effect that Bios Life itself will generate.

The question probably relates to the statement on the box of Bios Life, we warn that if you are diabetic please consult with your doctor because this product contains chromium. The statement on the box is there to make sure that your treating doctor knows about the fact that you are going to take chromium, because if you use insulin and you are carefully set up to use the exact amount of insulin needed and you then add chromium to your diet from Bios Life, you will increase the sugar lowering effect so you will need less medication, less insulin. This is a very positive thing. We just want to make sure that your doctor knows about it. So chromium is good for diabetics, there will not be a chromium reaction.

2. Does Bios Life have an ORAC value? (ORAC is big with the juicers)
Bios Life does not have an ORAC value, of course it does have one, but we have never measured it. ORAC is an experimental procedure that tells us how strong a product is in providing antioxidant protection. The higher the ORAC value, the bigger the antioxidant protection.

Bios Life will have an ORAC value because there are some antioxidants in the product, think of the minerals, think of some vitamins, but the product, of course, is not an antioxidant product, so we have not seen the need to currently measure the ORAC value of the product.

3. My HDL is so high that my total cholesterol number is 200. Can the HDL ever be too high? (I’ve been on Bios Life for years.)
HDL can never be too high. What HDL is doing in your body is cleaning out the arteries of existing plaque, functioning as a kind of vacuum cleaner, picking up the excess fat in your blood. Some people, Dr Jerry Bresnahan for example, calls it a crowbar by making sure that existing plaque in the body is actually being loosened up in the arterial walls so that it can be removed more effectively.

So there is no maximum value for HDL, the higher, the better. And, in fact, due to your high HDL, the total cholesterol numbers being so high are not so much of a concern. It is much more beneficial to have a high HDL than it is dangerous to have high total cholesterol. So, high HDL values are perfect.

4. Is Bios Life recommended if the customer is a teen/child diabetic?
Bios Life can be safely taken by a teen if they have diabetes. We want to make sure that they do not start with the maximum dose. So start slowly with one packet a day and keep careful control, carefully monitoring of the glucose values, because of the effects that Bios Life will reduce your overall glucose values at the time.

5. If someone is already on a pump for diabetes, can they safely use Bios Life?Yes they can, the same thing applies that the pump is carefully set to give the amount of insulin needed for the patient. With Bios Life the fiber and the chromium in the product are going to reduce the overall glucose values, so the pump will probably need to be adjusted and we would like you to discuss that with your doctor before you do so.

6. A 10-year-old with juvenile diabetes; mother concerned with sugar content in Bios Life and how much to give.
There is no sugar in Bio Life. Bios Life has absolutely no carbohydrates, so there is no effect on sugar levels by using Bios Life.

7. Does Bios Life lower LDL even if there is no change in diet?
Yes it does. The studies that we have done with Bios Life, and there are currently over eight, have all shown that people taking Bios Life did not do anything about their diet. So they did not need to change their diet in order to see the success of Bios Life on LDL levels.

8. Can you drink Bios Life and Hawaiian Noni together?
Yes, no problem. Bios Life is a food, Hawaiian Noni is a food; you can safely add those two products together.

9. Will Bios Life absorb the good fats we eat?
Bios Life does trap some of the fats from our food that is how it works. So if you are concerned, for example with omega-3 fatty acids from fish oil, which are very important fatty acids, you may want to separate the use of Bios Life and fatty acids over a time. What I would do is take Bios Life a few minutes before a meal and take fatty acids early on an empty stomach or before bedtime.

10. Why don’t we talk about lowering triglycerides and the importance of lowering it?
We do talk about it. Triglycerides are a very important additional risk for cardio vascular disease and metabolic syndrome. This is a big problem for diabetics the triglyceride values are the values that respond the quickest to Bios Life intervention. Our studies show that, on average, 40% of triglycerides are being reduced when you take Bios Life in a period of eight weeks.

11. What makes Bios Life lower triglycerides?
That’s a good question. First of all it lowers triglycerides because Bios Life traps fat in the digestive tract. Fat of course is the direct source of triglycerides, so that is a major effect. Also, Bios Life improves HDL; and HDL is known to pick up extra triglycerides in the blood stream and remove them from the body.

12. When will Bios Life Complete be listed in the PDR?
It currently is listed in the 2007 edition of the PDR, under Unicity Intl.

13. What if you forget to take Bios Life before you eat or do not have it with you. Can it help to have it later or just do not do it that time?
The best time to take Bios Life, in order to reach the maximum optimal effect, is about 10 minutes before your meal, before every meal. However, if you forget to take the product still take it at any other time during the day.

Best time is before a meal, because fiber works best before the meal. The other ingredients being policosanols and phytosterols actually work throughout the whole day, so it doesn’t really matter for those ingredients when you take the product. Therefore, should you forget to take the product before your meal, go ahead and take it at anytime during the day; even after or during the meal, because it is always better than not taking it at all.

14. How many double blind studies have been completed on Bios Life 2 and Bios Life Complete and how many open panel studies?
We have completed nine studies with Bios Life. Some of them are double blind, placebo controlled studies and some of them are open panel studies.

15. What is the difference between the double blind studies and the open panel? A double blind study is a study that is considered to be the state of the art study today, for studying the effects of pharmaceuticals and also dietary supplements.
The importance of the double blind, placebo controlled study is that there are two groups of people that take part in the study. One group gets the real product, the effective product. The other group gets the placebo, which is indistinguishable from the effective product, only it has no effective ingredients in it.

The patients that take part in the study and the doctor that administers the products do not know which product has been given to whom. By doing so you can be absolutely sure that any effect observed during the study with the active group is going to be in effect due to the product, because all subjective effects that may also play a role would also be present in the placebo group. So that is the best study design to see a difference.

An open panel study is another type of study in which everybody gets the effective product. We can then observe how strong the product is in a population based study.

Sometimes it is better to do an open panel study than a double blind placebo controlled study because the ethical condition that you always have to go through before you do a clinical study does not seem as ethical if you give people with high cholesterol a placebo. Sometimes you are stuck with the fact that you have to do an open panel study. Also pharmaceuticals, like Lipitor, have done open panel studies because of the same reason.

16. How much effect do emotions have on cholesterol and heart disease?
That’s an interesting question. Interestingly the Psycho Social Dex which basically describes emotions is an important risk factor for cardio vascular disease. I believe that the Inner Heart Study ranks it at a position 4.

It is true that being depressed or having other type of psychological problems may actually interfere with your cardio vascular health. If you are depressed for a long time you are more likely to develop a myocardial farction.

17. Why are there no enzymes in Bios Life?
Enzymes are a very good form of dietary supplementation if you want to improve your digestive health. It’s a great combination to take enzymes together with Bios Life; in fact we suggest that people who have a gas formation with Bios Life could actually combine it together with Enzygen Plus to reduce the gas problem that they may experience with Bios Life for the first few days.

18. Can people use their Health Savings Account to pay for Bios Life?
That totally depends on your individual health savings account system. There have been examples known of people who use their HSA to do this, there are even insurance companies that have covered the use of Bios Life as a cholesterol management product, but it depends on the individual insurer so please check with your insurance coverage.

19. Explain the health benefits to a young, healthy man or woman, with high cholesterol levels (30 to 50 years old).
Bios Life is primarily a cholesterol optimizing product, however it has many more effects.

First of all it improves your digestive health by cleaning out your intestinal tract by promoting the growth of friendly bacteria. It controls your sugar levels, which makes sure that your have better energy and that you don’t have insulin spikes throughout the day. It lowers the glycemic index of your food which is a great benefit if you are, for example, diabetic or if you want to lose weight. It also stimulates your immune system by promoting friendly bacteria; therefore you are going to have better immune health.

So for that kind of person who has perfect cholesterol levels, Bios Life is going to have great health benefits for you.

How does Bioslife Boost your energy levels

Most people feel sleepy and lack energy during mid mornings, after lunch and after a heavy dinner.

Another question that users often ask me is, why they feel really energised the whole day up till bed time.

In plain language, after a meal, your pancreas produces insulin to burn off the sugar, which is converted from the carbohydrates that you eat. So immediately after a meal, your blood sugar level rises, insulin burns it off and you feel full of energy. Then about 1 hour later, when your blood sugar levels drop to below normal levels, the insulin production reverts to normal, and you feel sleepy.

When you drink Bioslife 10 minutes before your meals, the 5 different fibres form a fibre gel mattrix that slows down the absorption of sugar into your blood stream. Insulin production remains constant and you don't get any high or low sugar levels in your blood. And you feel normal before and hours after each meal.

Bioslife contains B complex vitamins, and these give you the energy you need, so you feel alert and awake the whole day.

So if you want more energy, or to lose some weight or waist, or control your cholesterol, blood pressure or blood sugar levels, the best time to do it, is to drink your Bioslife 10 minutes before each meal.

How Bioslife helps you to lose weight and waist

Many people keep asking me - how does Bioslife help to not only reduce cholesterol, blood pressure and blood sugar levels, but also weight and waist.

When you drink Bioslife 10 minutes before eating your meals, it does 2 important functions:-
1. it provides your body all the nutrients it needs, so your brain feels full and 2. the fibre expands in your stomach, so you feel full faster.

Talk about science. Hunger is simply a chemical signal to the brain that your body needs nutrients. So if you take some supplements like Chlorospirulina before a meal, you actually dont feel hungry. But do you sometimes still feel hungry after eating a big meal? It's because the meal had no nutrients, just calories to fill the stomach, leaving the brain still hungry for nutrients.

So if you plan to lose some weight or waist, drink your Bioslife drink, 10 minutes before your meals, and within 30 days, you will be pleasantly lighter and thinner too!

Protecting your mother's heart this Mother's Day

This is a Star atricle published Sunday 6th May

Protect her heart
By AUDREY EDWARDS

GET women to understand the importance of matters such as diet and exercise. That is one advice that American College of Cardiology president Prof Dr James T. Dove has, for combating the scourge of heart disease, which is the main killer of women worldwide.

Dr Dove was in Kuala Lumpur for the National Heart Association of Malaysia's annual scientific meeting last month.

According to the Women's Heart Foundation in the United States, 8.6 million women die from heart disease every year worldwide. This accounts for a third of all deaths in women.

Eight million in the US currently live with heart disease where 35,000 are under the age of 65 and 435,000 American women have heart attacks yearly (83,000 are below age 65 and 35,000 are under 55 years old).

Women below the age of 50 who suffer heart attacks are twice as likely as men to die. He lamented the fact that women were more focussed on breast cancer, which they perceived was more dangerous. Maybe one reason is age. “Every community has a story of a young mother who dies of breast cancer. So, it gets a lot of high profile play,” he said.

Cardiac disease, he reminded, tends to happen a decade later than men. “An older population is not quite as emotionally wrenching as it is when a young woman dies of cancer. The other issue is a person can have heart disease and look perfectly healthy,” he added pointedly.

Overall, the World Health Organisation estimates that cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) are the number one cause of death globally and an estimated 17.5 million people died from CVDs two years ago. This was 30% of all global deaths.

Of these deaths, some 7.6 million were because of coronary heart disease and 5.7 million were due to stroke.

More than 80% of CVD deaths happen in low- and middle-income countries. It also occurs almost equally in men and women.

“You have women living longer despite the illness, but the therapy they need to help them live longer is terribly expensive. “The issue is that patients will keep on coming back many more times before they die. It is an extra burden on the family,” he said.
......

Yes prevention works, but its hard to change your diet or habits. But it's easy, just do drink your Bioslife, 10 minutes before each meal, to protect your heart

Does a high salt intake cause high blood pressure?

NO!. According to Joel Wallace a 1991 Nobel Prize nominee for Medicine, salt intake has no effect on your blood pressure levels.

If you have yet to listen to his highly entertaining and educational audio called Dead Doctors Don't Lie, you can read it here for free. Or if you prefer an audio CD, do contact me.

According to Dr Wallace, salt is not the cause of high blood pressure. After a 20 year study of 5,000 people, 99.7% died after being on a low or reduced salt diet. But if you can increase your calcium intake, your blood pressure will stablise. Read more about Dr Wallce research on high blood pressure here.

So enjoy your salted tasteful food and tell your doctor to stop giving false information and to keep updated, on the updated research on hypertension or high blood pressure.

When's the best time to improve your cholesterol levels?

High Cholesterol Proven to be Risk Factor for Stroke and Heart Disease

When’s the Best Time to Improve Your Cholesterol Levels?

When taken 10 minutes before eating, Bios Life goes to work improving your cholesterol levels four different ways.

It’s a Fact : Cardiovascular Disease is Devastating Today alone, cardiovascular disease will kill 3,500 Americans. That’s at a rate of more than two deaths a minute. However, cardiovascular disease isn’t unique to the United States alone—similar and growing mortality rates are reported in almost every country in the world.

That makes cardiovascular disease the fastest growing pandemic in the world. And that’s a big problem.

What’s Amazing is that Cardiovascular Disease is 80% Preventable! Most deaths caused by cardiovascular disease could have been prevented just by drinking a revolutionary, scientifically developed supplement called Bios Life, 10 minutes before each meal.

But before we tell you more about this innovative supplement, let’s take a closer look at why improving your cholesterol levels can help you avoid cardiovascular disease.

The Cholesterol–Cardiovascular Disease Connection

One of the most effective ways to determine the health of your cardiovascular system is to have your cholesterol levels checked. As a general rule, low HDL good cholesterol and high bad LDL cholesterol in your body, means you have a higher risk of developing stroke & cardiovascular disease.

Why is this important? Because health officials estimate that roughly 50 percent of all adults have unhealthy levels of cholesterol, and that 42 million adults have dangerously unhealthy levels—and you could be one of them without even knowing.

Simply put: Improve your cholesterol levels and maintain a healthy blood pressure level, and you’ll lower your risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

The Weakness of the Traditional Approach to Controlling Cholesterol

For the past decade, the medical community has treated the problem of managing cholesterol by prescribing statin drugs. Statin drugs work in the liver—causing it to produce less cholesterol. Statin drugs can be credited with saving lives from heart disease, but also causing fatal liver damage in the process.

However, nutritional science has made significant advances in the past few years—uncovering three additional approaches to improving cholesterol levels!

The combination of these four safe and natural approaches to improve cholesterol levels, has been patented, and is available for you today in a safe and effective non-prescription form.

Only Bios Life Improves Cholesterol Levels Four Ways

When taken 10 minutes before eating, Bios Life’s patented, unique combination approach improves your cholesterol levels in 4 different ways:

1. Trapping and eliminating the cholesterol in your bile acid
2. Preventing your body from absorbing cholesterol from the food you’re eating
3. Decreasing the amount of cholesterol manufactured by your liver
4. Boosting the enzymatic breakdown and removal of cholesterol

Clinical Results Show Just How Effective Bios Life is, at Improving Cholesterol Levels. In clinical studies, Bios Life was proven to lower LDL cholesterol by an astounding 31%. Some participants reported decreases of more than 52%!

What’s equally amazing is that the average increase of HDL cholesterol was 29%, with some achieving increases of up to 85%! Keep in mind that statin drugs have little or no effect on good cholesterol. And raising your good HDL is the key to lowering your risk.

Your results may be dramatically enhanced if you take Bios Life, in combination with a healthy diet and exercise.

What’s more, if you’re already treating your cholesterol levels with prescription statins, Bios Life will help you reduce your LDL cholesterol even further and raise your HDL even more.

In addition to improving LDL and HDL levels, Bios Life lowers triglycerides—the form in which most fat exists in food, as well as in your body and blood. Bios Life has also proven to stabilize blood sugar levels. No other supplement is more comprehensive for treating your entire lipid profile than Bios Life.

And one more thing—Bios Life’s two side effects are gas and weight loss!

10 Minutes Before Each Meal IS the Best Time to Improve Your Cholesterol Levels.

By taking Bios Life 10 minutes before each meal your daily cholesterol levels will improve and the dangerous build-up of cholesterol in your body can be slowed, stopped, and even reversed. After all, if you improve the levels of cholesterol in your body, you’ll lower your risk of cardiovascular disease and stroke.

How Cholesterol Levels Contribute to Stroke Risk

Most people know that high cholesterol levels, contribute to heart disease. But many don't realize that a high cholesterol level also contributes to stroke risk.

What is Cholesterol?

Cholesterol, a waxy substance produced by the liver, is a vital body product. It contributes to the production of hormones and vitamin D and is an integral component of cell membranes.

The liver makes enough cholesterol to fuel the body's needs, and this natural production of cholesterol alone, is not a large contributing factor to atherosclerosis, heart disease, and stroke.

Research has shown that the highest danger from cholesterol, comes from a dietary intake of foods that contain high levels of cholesterol. Foods high in saturated fat and cholesterol can increase the amount of total cholesterol in the body to alarming levels, contributing to the risk of atherosclerosis and thickening of the arteries—which can lead to stroke.

Cholesterol is a Lipid

Cholesterol is classified as a lipid, meaning that it is fat-soluble rather than water-soluble. Other lipids include fatty acids, glycerides, alcohol, waxes, steroids, and fat-soluble vitamins A, D, and E. Lipids and water, like oil and water, do not mix. Blood is a water-based liquid, therefore cholesterol does not mix with blood. In order to travel through the blood without clumping together, cholesterol needs to be covered by a layer of protein. The cholesterol and protein together are called a lipoprotein.

The Good and the Bad Cholesterol: Two Types of Lipoprotein

There are two kinds of cholesterol, commonly called the "good" and the "bad." Good cholesterol is high-density lipoprotein, or HDL; bad cholesterol is low-density lipoprotein, or LDL. Together, these two forms of cholesterol, make up a person's total serum cholesterol level.

Most Cholesterol in the Body is in the Form of LDL

LDLs circulate through the bloodstream, picking up excess cholesterol and depositing cholesterol where it is needed. But when too much cholesterol starts circulating in the blood, the body cannot handle the excessive LDLs, which build up along the inside of the arterial walls.

The buildup of LDL coating on the inside of the artery walls, hardens and turns into arterial plaque, leading to stenosis (narrowing of the artery) and atherosclerosis. This plaque blocks blood vessels and contributes to the formation of blood clots.

The Good Guys

The other form of cholesterol, HDL, is beneficial and contributes to stroke prevention. HDL carries a small percentage of the cholesterol in the blood, but instead of depositing its cholesterol on the inside of artery walls, HDL returns to the liver to unload its cholesterol. The liver then eliminates the excess cholesterol by passing it along to the kidneys.

A Person May Lower the Risk for Atherosclerosis and Stroke by increasing the good HDL and lowering the bad LDL Cholesterol Levels.

Bioslife is the safest, most effective way to naturally improve cholesterol levels

Is it in your genes or your diet?

Most people believe that if your parents or grandparents carried a defective gene, and suffered from asthma, diabetes, cancer, obesity, heart attack and stroke, you and your future generations would carry the same curse.

The fact is this - if you know that each of these so called curses, were actually as a result of your diet, would you change your diet today, so that your children would not suffer the same fate?

We grow to like the food and cooking style our parents fed us. And today, what we enjoyed in our growing years, is what we feed our kids.

So is it possible to break the chain of events, by changing our diets and increasing on antioxidants and fibre, and start to repair our defective genes?.

Quite hard actually, since most of us live to eat and not eat to live. Who doesn't enjoy fried chicken, pizza, burgers, barbeques, fries, nasi kandar and nasi lemak?

The easiest way is to drink your Bioslife twice daily before meals, and you can change your destiny and that of your future generations. Look at it as a healthy orange drink, and within 90 days, enjoy more energy, a slimmer body, healthy blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol levels. Want to take the 90 day challenge?

Don't get Heart Sick

The heart can be a time bomb waiting to explode if you are not careful.

TIME bombs: they’re pretty harmless until they detonate. Problem is, you never know when they’re going to explode and when they do, it’s deadly.

You may not know it, but you could have a time bomb ticking away inside you even as you’re reading this article. That time bomb is heart disease and it’s no joking matter.

Tick, tick, tick

You’ve probably heard of heart disease, ad nauseam. After all, it’s been the No. 1 killer in Malaysia for the past 26 years. But do you know how it really starts in the body?

According to consultant cardiologist, Datuk Dr Khoo Kah Lin, a major cause of this is atherosclerosis. “Atherosclerosis is a process where cholesterol and other substances build up inside the walls of your blood vessels, and form plaque.

“Sometimes, so much plaque can form in a blood vessel that they narrow the space inside, and restrict blood flow. When this happens in the arteries supplying blood to your heart, you will wind up with chest pain, breathlessness and fatigue.

“As if this isn’t bad enough, plaque is brittle and can easily rupture, forming a blood clot that can totally block all blood flow. If blood flow to your heart is blocked, you will have a heart attack; if it’s to your brain, you will suffer a stroke.”

Like many people, you probably don’t know if your blood vessels are healthy or otherwise. You may seem healthy on the outside, but inside, your blood vessels could be slowly clogging up.

The thing with heart attacks and strokes is, you can never know when they’re going to happen ? or can you?

“One simple way is to know your cholesterol level,” advises Datuk Dr Khoo. “It can reveal your risk of heart disease.”

You have two main types of cholesterol: ‘bad’ cholesterol (LDL) and ‘good’ cholesterol (HDL). Remember atherosclerosis? LDL is the real culprit. Over time, LDL becomes toxic and penetrates the lining of your blood vessels to form plaque. HDL is important as the more you have, it cleans up the LDL and reduces your risk of artherosclerosis.

There are three reasons why people develop high levels of LDL and low levels of HDL.

1. Smoking

Are you a smoker? Not only does smoking damage your arteries, it also increases your cholesterol. All this makes you twice as likely to suffer a heart attack compared to a non-smoker.

2. Messed up by stress

Do you lead a stressful lifestyle? If you do, you should know that stress affects you in many ways. For one thing, it can mess up your diet, leading you to become careless with your food choices and eating habits. Poor eating habits contribute to high cholesterol.

3. Too fat to function healthily

Being overweight or obese wreaks havoc on your metabolic function. You wind up with high blood cholesterol, high blood glucose and high blood pressure, which result in coronary heart disease, diabetes and hypertension respectively.

The most troubling thing is, this is a three-for-one deal: if you have one, you will develop the other two. And the scariest part? Most people with these diseases will die from a heart attack or stroke.

Defusing the time bomb

Naturally, your next question now is, “So can I defuse this time bomb that’s ticking inside me? What can I do?”

1. Practise healthy eating habits

Eat a well-balanced diet, have regular mealtimes every day and avoid over-eating.

2. Cut down on fats of all kinds

However, some fats are healthier than others. Avoid saturated fats and trans fatty acids. If you must take fats, opt for unsaturated fats.

3. Get heart-healthy fibre

A combination of 5 different plant fibres like Guar Gum, Gum arabic, Locust bean gum, pectin, & oat fibre (beta glucan), have shown to be effective in lowering LDL and raising HDL within 60 days.

Everyone is recommended to eat 25-30 grams of dietary fibre daily. This can come from fruits and vegetables, grains and cereals. However, not all fibres are created equal.

So, if you have normal cholesterol levels, eating BiosLife will help ensure that your heart stays healthy. If your cholesterol is on the high side, Bioslife can bring your cholesterol back to healthy levels. And if you do have a cholesterol problem and are on statin drugs, adding Bioslife will bring your levels down even further, so you can gradually reduce your drugs.

Bioslife is a low-fat source of energy, and takes longer to digest, meaning that you stay full for a longer period of time and won’t succumb to over-eating.

Bioslife is for everyone. It's a 100% natural delicious orange flavoured health drink. You'll love the taste

4. Get off that couch and get moving

Moderate exercise for 30 minutes on most days of the week (or, better yet, every day) reduces cholesterol and helps you maintain a healthy body weight. Try aerobic exercises. They’re great for strengthening the heart. After all, your heart is a muscle and it loves to get pumping! For dedicated couch potatoes, start off with brisk walking. It’s safe, easy and will make a world of difference.

5. Make a date with your doctor

Finally, pencil your doctor’s appointment into your calendar. A cholesterol test every 6 months will put you on the right track with a healthy heart.

Values your heart will love:

Total cholesterol: < 5.2 mmol/L
“Bad” cholesterol (LDL): < 3.3 mmol/L
Good cholesterol (HDL): > 1.02 mmol/L for men; > 1.3 mmol/L for women
Body mass index (BMI): between 18.5 and 25
Waist circumference: < 40 inches for men; less than 35 inches for women
Blood glucose: 3.8 - 6.1 mmol/L before meals; < 7.8 mmol/L two hours after meals
Blood pressure: < 130/80 mmHg

How to identify a STRoke when it happens

During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped because of her new shoes. While she appeared a bit shaken up, she went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Her husband called later saying that his wife had been taken to the hospital and passed away. She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps she would be with us today. Some stroke victims don't die, they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within three hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke . . . totally. He said the trick was having a stroke recognized, diagnosed and then getting the patient medically cared for within three hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE: Remember the "3" steps. Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Doctors say, a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:
S *Ask the individual to SMILE.
T *Ask the person to TALK, to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE. (Coherently) (i.e. . It is sunny out today)
R *Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS .

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out their tongue . if the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other, that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with any one of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to ten people, you can bet at least one life will be saved.

Or better yet, drink your Bioslife everyday, and prevent Stroke from ever happening to you and your loved ones.

Understanding Hypertension

This information is extracted from our Blueprints for Healthy Living authored by Dr Gordon Pedersen.

Symptoms of High Blood Pressure (HBP):-

HBP exists when there is too much pressure being exerted on the walls of the arteries during the pumping action of the heart. when there is high pressure in the arteries, it is dangerous because the heart must pump with greater force, this increased force can produce leaking blood vessels, hear or organ damage and /or even ruptured vessels. One in 10 people has high blood
pressure today and is the best indicator of cardiovascular disease.

The most common symptoms of advanced hypertension include dizziness, rapid pulse, sweating abnormally, tension, headache, visual disturbances and frequent nosebleeds.

Causes:

Factors that contribute to hypertension include a genetic predisposition, obesity, diet, high blood cholesterol, smoking, alcohol, stress, drug abuse and a sedentary lifestyle

Complementary therapies

A basic healthy lifestyle can reduce blood pressure especially if you sleep sufficiently, eat a fibre rich diet, exercise, drink purified water & supplement with fibre, Coenzyme Q10, vitamin E, Calcium, Magnesium & Omega 3 oil

It is essential to avoid dietary fats, alcohol, tobacco and refined sugar.

A safe and effective Program based on budget

Salmon Omega 3 oil

- softens hardened arteries and smoothens inside walls of arteries. Thousands of documented studies show Omega 3 oil assists the body, brain, skin, heart & eyes in so many different ways.

Calcium Magnesium complex

- deficiencies have been shown to lead to high blood pressure. Calcium Magnesium in the right formulation and in chelated form reduces plaque build up in the arteries

Bioslife (delicious fibre drink mix)

- the only safe and natural alternative to drugs that is clinically proven to reduce cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels within 2 months.
