Understanding the cholesterol test numbers

When you do your cholesterol test, your report will show many numbers. Understanding what they mean, is extremely important.

The 6 numbers you will see are

a) TC - Total Cholesterol (LDL + HDL)
b) LDL Cholesterol
c) HDL Cholesterol
d) CR - Cholesterol ratio
e) VLDL - Triglycerides
f) Homocystein

If your Total Cholesterol is too low, you also have a problem as cholesterol is required to produce hormones including sex hormones.

But if your Total Cholesterol is very high because of a high HDL Cholesterol reading, then your risk of Cardio Vascular Disease is low.

To prevent Heart Attacks, Strokes and other CVD diseases, watch that you have a High HDL, and low levels of Triglycerides and Homocystein levels.

With high HDL levels, your LDL will will drop naturally

Yesterday an acquaintance Krishnan, who just won some money in a lottery draw, had a heart attack and died. Bioslife was too expensive for him to invest in himself. Well I guess he lost, in the free lottery for Heart Attack and Strokes. What about you?

So do you know your cholesterol numbers?
